Taihean (Steven) Choi
I, Taihean, graduated from UW in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and then returned to Korea. I started working in January 2004 and have been working continuously since then. I got married in 2011, and we now have a daughter who’s already 8 years old.
My family and I are currently living in Nicaragua! I was dispatched here by my company in 2020, and we’ve been living in Nicaragua for almost five years now.
I’m working on a photovoltaic (renewable energy) project here. It’s been quite an experience living and working in Central America, but it looks like the project will wrap up this year, and we’ll be heading back to Korea soon.
My brother, Meanggu, transferred to San Jose, California, with his wife and two daughters. Moving to California has been both exciting and challenging for the family—adjusting to a new city, building a routine, and helping everyone settle into their schools and community. San Jose’s diverse culture and vibrant tech scene keep life interesting, and they’re gradually making it feel like home.
