Bellevue Christian School offers choir beginning in 5th grade at our elementary schools. Our Clyde Hill campus hosts four choirs — both beginning and advanced singers can find a place here. Our choir program aims for more than the mastery of music theory - although students do learn exceptional melodic technique. Of equal importance, the program is grounded in a firm desire to prompt students to find their voices and pursue growth through incorporating feedback. Our choir traveled to Europe last summer, participates in an annual retreat, and produces numerous seasonal performances.
Theater Art
In theater, we make invisible learning visible in a breathtaking way. From learning vocal projection to mastering stage blocking and memory work, each performance is an opportunity to discover new talents, show our skills, and develop camaraderie. Our upper school (7th – 12th grade) hosts four major theatrical productions each year with over 150+ participating students. Students in our theater program have been recognized as some of the very best in the area by the 5th Avenue Theater’s high school awards program.
Visual Art
We have a dedicated art teacher at each of our elementary campuses. Our art curriculum at the elementary level focuses on using a variety of materials including fiber, metal, paint, pencil, and clay and introducing kids to a variety of art techniques and concepts. In our upper school art classes, we offer four levels of art classes culminating in AP art, a studio art class intended to provide a portfolio of work for students applying to art schools.
Media Art
In our upper school, we offer a multi-subject digital arts program including photography, digital art, yearbook, and video production. Students create work in these classes that is shared both within and outside of our BCS community.
Instrumental Art
All elementary students learn from a music specialist, before having the opportunity to begin band in fifth grade. Our upper school instrumental arts program provides students a broad range of opportunities in band, jazz ensemble, chapel worship, and orchestra.
