At Bellevue Christian School, we understand that the early years of a child’s education lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning, growth, and faith. Our preschool program offers more than just a space for your child to learn the basics of ABCs and 123s. It’s a place where young minds are nurtured to explore, discover, and develop in a loving, supportive, and faith-centered environment.
If you’re considering preschool for your little one, we invite you to explore the unique opportunities that BCS provides. With campuses at Three Points Elementary in Medina and Mack Elementary in Woodinville, our preschool locations are designed to meet your family’s needs while fostering a love for learning and spiritual growth.
A Safe and Engaging Place to Learn and Grow
BCS preschool classrooms are state-licensed and staffed with caring, dedicated teachers committed to helping each child flourish. We know that the early years are crucial for developing academic, social, and emotional skills. Our preschool program is built around the philosophy that children learn best through play and hands-on experiences. As a result, we create an environment where children are free to ask questions, make discoveries, and grow in their understanding of the world and their faith.
Faith-Centered Learning
At BCS, we believe in integrating faith into every aspect of a child’s education. Our preschoolers learn that the Bible is God’s word and that the stories in the Bible are not just tales of the past—they are stories that shape how we live today. Through Bible lessons, prayers, songs, and stories, our young learners begin to understand who God is and how He loves them.
Preschool students at BCS learn foundational Bible stories, such as the story of creation, Noah’s Ark, and the nativity story. They also begin to understand the importance of loving and caring for others, just as Jesus taught us. Worship is woven into their day as children learn to express their love for God through songs and prayer.
By the end of the year, our goal is for every child to recognize that Jesus was once a child, just like them, and that they can love and care for others in the same way Jesus taught us. This faith-based learning not only provides spiritual growth but also fosters a sense of belonging to something much bigger than themselves.
Social-Emotional Growth: Learning to Navigate Relationships
In preschool, the classroom is a social laboratory where children begin to develop key interpersonal skills. They learn to interact with peers, share ideas, express their feelings, and resolve conflicts. Our preschool teachers focus on helping children grow emotionally and socially, building their confidence and empathy.
Our preschoolers learn to separate from their parents and caregivers, ask teachers for help, and care for their own needs. That might mean putting on their coats, washing their hands, or using the restroom independently. We help every child develop the skills they need to thrive in a social setting, both in the classroom and during playtime. We teach children how to work together, cooperate during group activities, and share materials. These are all important steps to help them build healthy relationships with others.
Physical Development: Strengthening Bodies, Building Skills
Bellevue Christian School believes in developing the whole child, which includes physical growth and development. Preschoolers are naturally curious and energetic. We make sure they have plenty of opportunities to engage in activities that help strengthen their muscles and fine motor skills.
Our playgrounds and classroom activities encourage running, balancing, throwing, and catching, helping to improve physical coordination. In the classroom, children practice holding pencils, drawing lines and shapes, and cutting with scissors. These skills all help with hand-eye coordination and fine motor development. Every small physical milestone helps set the stage for more complex tasks in the future, such as writing and drawing.
Communication & Literacy: Building a Strong Foundation for Reading and Writing
Language development is a key focus in BCS’s preschool program. We believe that language is a gift from God. Consequently, we want every child to have the tools they need to express themselves and communicate effectively with others.
In our classrooms, children practice listening skills, storytelling, and following directions. They will have opportunities to ask questions, share ideas, and talk about the stories they hear. Early literacy skills are introduced through songs and rhymes, which help children understand the sounds and rhythms of language. They begin to recognize some letters—especially the letters of their own names—and learn to match letters with sounds. By the end of the year, many preschoolers are writing their names and even forming simple letters and shapes. This sets a solid foundation for reading and writing.
Math & Science: Exploring the World Around Them
Preschool is also a time for children to explore the world through math and science. At BCS, we provide opportunities for children to develop their natural curiosity through hands-on exploration of numbers, patterns, and the physical world.
In math, preschoolers practice counting, sorting, and recognizing numbers. They’ll explore shapes, patterns, and concepts like more, less, and the same. In science, children ask questions, make predictions, and experiment with activities like water play, color mixing, and building. These activities not only help children understand basic scientific concepts but also foster their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
