Our Roots

Bellevue Christian stands on a strong foundation of Christian education, one which has stood the test of time and continues to serve as a model for schools around the country. We invite you to explore the framework that serves as the basis of Bellevue Christian School.

___________

1950: BCS is Founded

Bellevue Christian School was originally founded by Albert E. Greene — a devout Christian minister with an incredibly transformative view on all that education could be, when rooted in Christ.

1953-1998: Slow and Steady Developments

Greene's vision for a transformational education grew slowly but surely as God richly blessed BCS with the necessary resources and caring faculty. In 1953, BCS moved from a church basement to its first building. It got its first bus in 1957. In 1962, construction began for a gym at Clyde Hill. In 1996, the Mack Elementary campus in Woodinville was dedicated.

Today: Reflecting on God's Goodness

Today, Bellevue Christian School is home to over 1,000 students on four unique campuses. We also provide employment for 275 staff and faculty. Whether you are a student here, a parent, or one of our staff and faculty, we believe that you are here at BCS for a reason, and are excited to hear how God has used this school in transformative ways in your life.

An Inside Look

___________

Second Sight by Lowell Hagan documents the philosophical framework developed by the founders of Bellevue Christian School in 1950 and explains their unique approach to Christian education that is still in practice today. All new teachers read the book and is also recommended for new families to better understand how and why we approach education the way we do. Second Sight reflects the thought and work of dozens of people over many years at Bellevue Christian.
