March 19, 2020
Dear Bellevue Christian Friends & Family,
We hope this email finds you in good spirits and good health during this unusual time. Learning is in full swing at Bellevue Christian, with K-12 students engaging in online programs to further student learning, fellowship & discipleship. Seeing our wonderful teachers interacting with students at home, playing instruments, working on math problems and creating pieces of art has been a blessing to witness. We are grateful to God, our teachers, parents and students for helping online learning launch so successfully.
There has been perhaps no better time than now, in March of 2020, that the Bellevue Christian mission is critically relevant and being lived out in such a unique way: “To prepare young people to live faithfully for God in a rapidly changing world with the ability to understand, evaluate, and transform their world from the foundation of God’s unchanging values.”
You may recall we announced last week we were postponing our 3/21/20 Auction, aligning with the King County Public Health Department’s recommendations.
The Auction is our largest fundraiser each year and it helps keep many vital functions at BCS running. It supports classroom and online learning, advances changes in curriculum, helps us make upgrades to our campuses, supports operations, and helps us to further our vision of preparing young people to life faithfully for God.
After much prayer about the direction of the auction this year, we have decided to move to an online Auction in early May.
While we will miss seeing members of our community in-person, this will open the Auction to our greater community as well as give an opportunity for those who may not have been able to attend to participate in this celebratory event.
We truly rely on the continued support of our BCS family to help make this Auction a success during this challenging time and there are a few things I would like you to prayerfully consider as we work to move our Auction online.
- If you were hoping to attend, Mar. 21, please prayerfully consider making the same financial donation you have made in the past or were planning to make in-person at the Auction.
- If you bought a ticket to the Auction and you’re able, please consider permitting your ticket purchase to be a direct donation to the spring Auction. *You do not need to do anything further if you are comfortable allowing for your ticket cost to turn into a tax-deductible donation to BCS. If you have questions, please contact our Events Team.
- During the online Auction in early May, you’ll have the opportunity to bid on all the same items that would have been available at the live event; including, live items, silent items, Raise the Paddle and Sundae Showdown.
We could not make an online Auction possible without the amazing continued support of our sponsors Neal Smiles Orthodontics, Neal, Leonard and Sorensen, Western Chief and JLS Academy as well as the many donations that have come from you in our community.
Please join us this May in supporting our community, our school, and our ability to fulfill the Great Commission; to build up and multiply disciples for Christ.
In His Service,
Kevin M. Dunning
