Our wonderful family of Community Builders at Mack is once again coming through with the many donations you are lovingly placing under our Giving Tree. There are a few tags left, and as a reminder, you can learn more about these organizations that we are supporting this year below. Please remember to place all donations (UNWRAPPED with the tag attached) under the tree by Friday of this week, December 8. Thank you for your generosity and for greatly blessing so many people in need this Christmas!
The Giving Tree Supports…
Special Delivery (Angel Tags)
Special Delivery (right across the street from Mack!) is a ministry to single mothers with unplanned pregnancies and is committed to focusing on the needs of the whole person – physical, emotional and spiritual. Special Delivery helps women at any point in their pregnancy as long as support is needed. From short-term housing, to food, clothing and supplies for both mother and baby, the caring volunteers and ministry staff are there to help. There are six mothers with infants or babies on the way in-house right now that we have the opportunity to bless. Our two sixth grade classes will hand deliver our donations before Christmas break.
New Horizons (Snowflake Tags)
New Horizons is a ministry in downtown Seattle that inspired by the love of Jesus, partners with Seattle’s street youth on their journey toward a sustainable future. When Jesus walked the earth he met people where they were and showed them a new way. This is the inspiration for the work done at New Horizons. They welcome all, mentor and provide guidance and help the youth make healthy choices. They start by meeting basic needs. No one can think about the future when they are hungry. No one can get and keep a job when they are dirty. No one can dream when they are always worrying about their safety. New Horizons does this through outreach, drop-in services, life skills training, job training, mentorship, case management, Street Bean apprenticeship program and housing assistance. Our sixth grade classes will deliver these items to New Horizons on December 13th.
Friends of Youth (Cards)
Friends of Youth provides services to at-risk youth and homeless young people at 25 sites in 18 cities, primarily in east King County. With 65 years of experience and national accreditation, they provide safe places and emotional support for youth in challenging circumstances. In 2016, they helped over 4,000 youth and their families in crisis. By donating a gift this season, you can make the holidays brighter for children in need in our community.
