VPG Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need to know someone to join in a meeting?
No! Meetings are open. Come on in anytime. The VPG is made for all the parents on campus. It doesn’t matter if you work or live far away. Whatever your circumstances, we would love to have you join us and help in any capacity that you are able. The group is entirely open.
What is the difference between Elementary PTF and VPG on Jr./Sr. High campus?
As our children enter Junior & Senior High, our focus shifts toward serving the whole school and its programs rather than individual classrooms. In addition, our needs as parents shift more towards creating relationships with each other rather than just orchestrating our children’s social lives at school. Parents are, instead, a valued and crucial part of what happens on campus and what activities and events we can provide for the entire campus. Parent involvement is what provides much of the social and community activities and staff recognition.
Do I need to be crafty to join?
No! We don’t just need those who are handy with the arts. We need those who are good at administration, finances, community building, service, and much more.
How do I join?
Just show up or fill out the volunteer form or email VPG@bellevuechristian.org and we will get you started.
I work full time. Is there a way to be involved?
Those families who are working full-time are encouraged to get involved by coming to events with your student and helping with night-time/weekend events. Working with others parents is a great way to meet. Also, we have a “work-crew” email list where we send out notices when we need workers or donations dropped off at the school so that you can stay connected. If you would like to join the list, email VPG@bellevuechristian.org. To sign up for a specific area of interest, please fill out a volunteer form.
In addition, we strive to have some nightly social events for parents to meet other parents. Often with the junior high we work in tandem with their night social events, so that your student gets connected while you do, too! For high school, we strive to have grade-specific social gatherings.
Some working parents also meet us for our lunches on the third Thursday of the month or stop in on meetings when it works with their schedule.
When and where do you meet for VPG?
We meet the first and second Tuesday of each month at 1p.m. We meet on the Jr./Sr. High campus in the large conference room (through the Jr/Sr. offices). Check the VPG meeting calendar for details.
When do you have social lunches for VPG?
Lunches are every third Tuesday at 1p.m. (except where there is a holiday that interferes with that schedule) at a local Bellevue restaurant of our choosing. To find out where you can check the VPG meeting calendar or email VPG@bellevuechristian.org.
