Learning at Mack

I am amazed at the learning happening in my son's kindergarten class.  Each child is reading at different developmental levels and Mrs. Berg is able to challenge and help each one.  Luke has started reading street signs, cereal boxes, emails (over my shoulder), and anything his little eyes come across.  I was wearing the Bellevue Christian t-shirt and he sounded out the words "Be transformed."

Mrs. Berg has done an incredible job and she knows exactly what she's doing.  She is intentional about everything they do in that classroom, and it shows.

My favorite thing about kindergarten has been the writing instruction.  The kids are encouraged to write without fear, sounding out words for themselves!  Luke will sit and write for extended periods of time, thinking about the sounds and letters.  He has such freedom to experiment and learn. This is Luke's attitude toward writing, which has been fostered by Mrs. Berg.  The actual writing instruction is also top notch.  Thank you for such an amazing first-time experience with Mack Elementary- it is a place where each child is cherished and learning is an attitude as much as a skill.
