Fu Lei thank you lunch

For the past two years Fu Lei has translated enrollment documents and phone interviews to China.

We often ask her to phone applicants and their parents in China to answer questions about the school, academics, student life and teachers.

As a thank you, Mr. Ulstein, the International Coordinator took Fu Lei and some friends to Facing East Taiwanese restaurant for lunch.

Jasmine recognized for patience

Students at Three Points Elementary Campus were recognized for fruits of the spirit. Jasmine, who entered Ms Schultz's second grade class in January, is known for her patience as she learns English as her third language. She is fluent in Japanese and Korean and is also learning a fourth language, Spanish.

State Math Champions

The BCS Math Team recently won first place in the state at the Math is Cool competition and 7th place overall. They are the only Division 2 team to be invited to the Master Round competition in Moses Lake on December 13.

Although BCS is a small school, the team will be advanced to Division 1 next year because of their outstanding performance.

They beat all but one private school in the State of Washington. We are very proud of their achievements.

Danny Hsieh's Photography

In October of 2009, Danny Hsieh's Photography was on display at the Bellevue Starbuck's (next door to See's on NE8th).  This is the work he completed while studying at California College of the Arts last summer.  He calls it "Inspirit" and shows the inspiration he has gained from working in the photography program at BCS  and in the creative atmosphere of CCA and San Francisco.

Seong Ho (Steven) Cho wins Physics contest

Seong Ho (Steven) Cho from BCS was one of the semi-finalists on the first US Physics Team Exam.  He made the list of the top 315 students out of about 3,200 who took the test nationally, and is the only student selected from Washington State.

This is a tryout to choose The US Physics team which will participate in an international physics competition between high-school physics teams from 80 countries all over the world.  The competition is called the Physics Olympiad.  This

February Highlights

This is not the BCS library! Twice a year the 11th grade class goes to the University of Washington Library to conduct research. Their research papers are submitted to both the history and English classes. The UW library system is one of the largest and best in the country. The visit helps them with their BCS work and prepares them to use the university library after they graduate. Included in the photo are students are from Taiwan, Beijing and Korea.
