Stefan Ulstein has taught English and media at Bellevue Christian School for over twenty-five years. He is the author of the books, Pastors off the Record and Growing Up Fundamentalist, both on InterVarsity Press. He contributed to Twelve Affirmations for Christian Schooling in the Twenty-First Century (Baker Book House). His articles and reviews have appeared in The Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Christianity Today, Books and Culture, and on KPLU radio. He is married to Jeanne Ulstein, who teaches junior high English at BCS.

They met in high school and married after he returned from the US navy, where he served on the aircraft carrier, USS Bennington. They have two adult sons, Kenji and Tor. Mr. Ulstein is a graduate of the University of Washington. In his spare time Mr. Ulstein is a freelance film critic for various publications, as is Mrs. Ulstein. They enjoy taking students to film screenings and filmmaker interviews. They also sail, and enjoy taking students and colleagues out in their boat, Bintang. One of their fondest memories is of building their own house, which was designed by BCS alumnus, Blake Stephens.
