Three Points Elementary Enrichment
"...we have different gifts, according to the grace given us." Romans 12:6b
Bellevue Christian School provides many opportunities for students to develop their unique, God-given gifts. The enrichment program addresses the needs of bright and achieving students who require challenges beyond the regular classroom setting. Enabling students to responsibly use their gifts and talents in God’s world requires the development of higher-level thinking, communication, and leadership skills. Students are encouraged to use their gifts for God’s kingdom in their family, school and community. (*From BCS Enrichment Philosophy Statement, Adopted March 1997)

Core Students (4th-6th)
Students who qualify as “core” may attend all of the units for their grade level, with teacher approval. Core students must place in the 95th percentile on their combined composite score from the Iowa Test of Basic Skills and the Cognitive Abilities Test. The Cognitive Abilities Test is administered to selected students, 3rd —6th grade, by the enrichment teacher. Students can also qualify as core with an IQ score of 132 or higher, taken within the last three years.
Revolving Students
Students who have demonstrated particular strengths, talents or interest in the subject matter of a particular unit may be revolved into a unit as recommended by their classroom teacher.
Math Enrichment
Math enrichment consists of a weekly thirty minute problem-solving lesson for students in grades two through six. Understanding various problem-solving strategies and learning to choose the best one are important skills stressed in this program. Students are selected by recommendation from the classroom teacher.
Independent Learners
The Independent Learner component of enrichment meets for one hour each week. Third and fourth graders research a topic of their choice and create a multimedia HyperStudio project. Students qualify for this program with a combined score of 97 percentile or above and/or teacher recommendation. The fifth and sixth graders serve our community by publishing a school newspaper. To apply students must write a news article and obtain parental permission. Students meet weekly during lunch/recess and work independently on their articles.
